The TES2 intercom unit does not have the noise-cancelling capabilities to be able to be mounted into surface-mount back boxes. This affects all TES2 units in 100, 200, and 400 series. We recommend that you use Viking intercoms for POTS applications in surface boxes.

There is a common problem when telephone entry systems such as Holovision’s TES2 or VIK entry systems are used with multi-station cordless telephone intercoms. The telephone entry (TES or VIK) will have no problem with a butt set or with ordinary “wired” telephone handsets, but will be unable to make the cordless telephones ring when the door bell button is pushed.  

  The problem is that some of these wireless systems are very sensitive to the wave shape of ringing signal which is generated by the telephone entry device. Because this type of system is popular, a solution must be presented. Viking Electronics has developed a ring shaper (RG-4) which, in most cases, will correct this problem.
